New Buffalo is a hidden gem when it comes to food. It is one of my favorite places in the world to eat because it is so consistent. When most people come here they know of The Stray Dog and Redamak's. Both are consistently delicious, but in this post we are going to talk about the restaurants you probably haven't heard of.
1) Brewster's
Brewster's is New Buffalo's Italian restaurant and gets easily looked over from being tucked beside Whittaker street. My favorite thing to get here is the lamb shank. OH SO GOOD!
2) Song Asian Cuisine
I was a little skeptical before my first experience at Song Asian Cuisine. I thought, No way could New Buffalo actually have good Japanese food. I'm sure a lot of people drive past Song Asian and think the same thing, and they are all wrong! This food is great!! I normally don't love noodles from places like these because they can be really greasy, but these were fantastic. My family also loves nigiri, and we were surprised at how great the nigiri was as well. If you're in the mood for Japanese while in New Buffalo, I 100% recommend Song Asian Cuisine.
3) Rio's
Now Rio's would not be one of the underground restaurants that no one has heard of. Rio's is a chain, but it is an underrated chain! I am a big Chipotle fan, I get it twice a week, and I would say Rio's is as good if not better than Chipotle. I switch up my order between their flour and corn tacos, burritos and burrito bowls and get spicy chicken, everything but cheese, sour cream and beans (Yuck) and Booom! Some fire Rio's that never disappoints.
4) Bentwood Tavern
Two words. Bangkok. Chicken. Out of all these restaurants my family consistently eats at Bentwood the most and we LOVE the Bangkok Chicken entree. It is so savory and served with this awesome sweet and sour sauce. They also have some other great dishes like their salmon salad, beef tenderloin, and a juicy American burger. While enjoying dinner here you can sit inside in a cute booth, or outside and enjoy the peaceful marina. At the end of dinner, you cant leave without one of their famous warm chocolate chip cookies. Delicious!
